Grand Junction, CO (Again!)
September 21st, 2020
Wow, as mentioned a couple posts back, Grand Junction is great. Just don't tell anyone, as I don't want the secret to get out. As much fun as we had in Moab, it was good to get out of the extreme heat, smoke, and crowdedness.
We opted this time to stay at the KOA on the edge of town. I think the kids were missing the green grass, maybe just a little bit.
We did some more hiking while we were here, this time in the Pollock Canyon area - which was fantastic! Beautiful weather and views throughout. Mac also took the kids to Lunch Loops for a morning hike.
I got another ride in with Brett! He's awesome, such a great guy to spend time with, and an awesome rider to boot! I also ordered and received a new upgrade for my bike... an SRAM Eagle AXS XX1 Drivetrain! That's right, all electric, all rainbow. Other than me briefly forgetting how to remove the crankset and struggling in 95deg heat with a wrench (which the neighbors got a kick out of watching me do), the install went super smoothly.
I was able to test out the new setup with Brom on a trail that was right out the rear exit of the campground, which was super convenient. Worked great!
I also got to give it a test run at a nearby skills park - which was a blast!.
